Air intake Manifold Pneumatic Actuator stuck

2010 Ferrari 458

Engine Issue

Miles: 22,000
Date of First Occurrence (D/M/Y): 01/02/2021
DTC Codes (if any): Unknown
Parts List:

2x part number 258761, around $600-$1000 each depending on supplier.

Part #4 on diagram.

Change vacuum lines if necessary.

Approximate Cost to Fix: $4,000

Description of Issue:

I used to have my 2010 Ferrari 458 Italia raising AVH failures which is actually very often a false issue resulting of the failure of another component (or sometimes when the battery charge is low and electrical components would not start properly). In my case, diagnostic showed that the pneumatic Actuator of the air intake manifold was the root cause of the problem.

While driving, engine will stutter and not respond to gas pedal pressure.

Drop of power can also be felt very clearly.

Can be tested manually using a hand vacuum pump. Actuator will not move or move very slowly if faulty.

Resolution if Known:

Replacement of Pneumatic Actuator (2x part number 258761).

Needs disassembly of entire air intake manifold.

Check all vacuum lines for punctures or wear. Replace if necessary.

I noticed a massive increase of the engine power after the repair (felt like +150HP more).
