Launch X431 - https://amzn.to/3mznaig

Approximate Cost to Fix: $250

Description of Issue:

My 458 started having a strange surging while at idle.  This got so bad that it would rev out of control and idle at 5,000+ RPMs or even to redline!  The only solution was to turn the car off.  It would calm down once it was put in gear, but even then it would feel like it was constantly fighting me and trying to rev and pull forward.  I had to get hard on the brakes to even keep the car from moving.

Resolution if Known:

The throttle pedal potentiometer went bad and the throttle pedal had to be replaced.  The process was fairly simple, remove the 3 bolts holding down the pedal, then disconnect the electrical connector.  Then reverse to install the new pedal.  I was able to verify the bad potentiometer by looking at the raw data for the pedal position on my Launch X431.

I documented this on my YouTube channel - https://youtu.be/Xc1zDArdh_s
