Another incredible rally, this time again with the RATX Poker Run. We started in Houston, Texas and ended at Lake Charles, Louisiana at the L’auberge Hotel and Casino. Looks like there was over 100 cars but not as large as the last one.

Adam, Loeper, Andy and I drove over from Austin and met up with the other rally participants. For the first leg we had a police escort and they shut down the highway for us! We were driving at least 55 MPH all to our selves for quite a few miles. It was pretty awesome and a huge thanks to the police officers who made that possible.

After the first rest stop at Buc-ee’s we ran into a lot of Texas State Troopers and quite a few cars were pulled over and issued tickets for speeding. It was a pretty spirited leg but we tried our best to behave once the heat was on. It felt a bit like playing a game of cat and mouse as we were using radios, group chats, and radar detectors to outwit the police patrolling the area.

We stopped at a cool park right on the Texas / Louisiana border and then headed North to Lake Charles for the last leg. Unfortunately we had an officer tail us for about 15 miles so we didn’t make good time. But after a quick detour we popped back onto the highway right in front of the rally!

The reward of cold beer awaited us after a long day of driving fast and fun.
