Due to my family history, my primary care physician recommended that I get a colonoscopy done immediately to screen for colon cancer and colon polyps. The prep for the procedure is less than pleasant but the procedure itself is pretty much painless and recovery is immediate. It turns out that I had 2 colon polyps that were removed, 1 of which was pre-cancerous. So it’s a very good thing that we did this. Now I’m on the 5 year track instead of 10 year. Normally people are supposed to get this done at age 50 but they are starting to recommend age 45 and earlier with family history.
