RENT MY CARS with Drive on Demand: https://driveondemand.com
One of our recent rentals was quite an interesting story. A gentleman from Colorado rented Drive On Demand’s BMW M3 Competition Package for 2 days which included 450 miles. When the car was returned, it had over 1,800 miles put on it and our GPS data suggested that the renter drove to Mexico! The car was returned pretty filthy and was definitely not washed.
When submitting the reimbursement fees to Turo, they asked a bunch of questions as the mileage was very unusual, and we needed a very large reimbursement amount. They got the TSA involved and they are actively investigating the renter and the situation. Because of this we cannot disclose some information.
Ultimately we figured out that the renter was probably a YouTuber or video/movie producer and rented the car to make some sort of video. He left his script and screen notes in the car along with a screwdriver. One of the notes showed camera shots and that included doing some drifting which is not allowed per our rental car policy.
Finally I give an update on how some of our rental cars are doing. Drive on Demand has been doing very well, and you should consider renting one of our cars if you are visiting Austin!
