Approximate Cost to Fix: $1,000Description of Issue:
The fuel pumps in the F430 and 360 have been known to have a few issues. The gasket at the top can leak causing fuel to spill out. If you smell fuel in the engine bay that's a sign that it may be leaking. This is obviously a major concern and fire risk. The other issue is the fuel pumps themselves fail. This may be due to the ethanol content in modern fuels along with cars not being driven enough and the fuel going bad.
Resolution if Known:
The pumps can be replaced by gaining access to the top of the fuel tank on the left and right side of the car. Then you remove the fuel lines and electrical connections. There is a retaining ring that holds the fuel pumps in place. This ring may be a bit fragile so be careful. Our ring broke when trying to install. Removal of the pump is easier then installation as you can bend it to get out. Installation takes some time and finesse.Â
