Radio won't stop speaking to me in German
2009 Ferrari F430
Infotainment Issue
Miles: 11,000 Date of First Occurrence (D/M/Y): 06/03/2020 DTC Codes (if any): Parts List: Approximate Cost to Fix:Description of Issue:
When a Ferrari branded Becker radio is reset back to factory it will switch to German as its language. Â If the car does not have the factory navigation open w/the SD card installed you cannot change the language back to English (or anything other than German). Â This also removes the Ferrari themed color scheme from the radio display. Â The CDROM that is included with the car is NOT the language for the radio, but the language for the voice commands, so it can't fix it.
Resolution if Known:
The only fix, and Ferrari can't help here as most dealers don't have their "SD-Cards" anymore for a 10+ year old car is to buy (next to impossible, I paid $400+ for an SD Card on eBay and it took a while) or borrow a Ferrari Navigation map SD card from someone. Â It must match your software version (CDROM that came with your car) or you will need to update/downgrade your radio to a software version that matches the SD Card. Â You can then upgrade using the CDROM after you switch the radio back to English. Â
The SD Card is located under the left hand radio knob. Â You slide the ferrari logo on the radio and the knob will "pop" off and you will see the SD Card slot.
Note: For two reasons you cannot simply duplicate a "borrowed" SD Card to have a copy. Â First is licensing, only Becker (who can't help you anyway, I tried calling them) or Ferrari can license you to copy your card (they won't). Â Second, the SD Card is a specially prepared card and you will need to know some esoteric UNIX commands to create the copy. Â
