Part 10 of the Ferrari 348 DIY Major Engine Out Service. The Ferrari 348 requires the engine to be pulled every 3-5 years or 25,000 miles to replace the timing belts. Usually this also entails replacing many other components such as the tensioners, water pump, bearings, and pulleys. Typically this service starts at around $10,000 at most reputable shops, and can easily cost upwards of $25,000. We are going full bore and replacing almost everything that can wear so the engine will be almost as good as new and give Tim many years of use.
The cams are back in the Ferrari 348 and we get it ready to start adjusting the timing. Lots of work and lots of progress is made as we spend an entire day working on the 348 Major. I also show you how to compute the center line of the camshaft so we can determine if we’ve set the timing right. We even tweak the cam’s position to be slightly more aggressive and get us a few more horsepower from stock since we will be pulling off the cats. Hot rodding a Ferrari? Hell yes!
